NAIS/Element14 is seeking an experienced Data Architect to provide services on a future contract supporting a government agency. This will be a full-time salaried position with compensation based on your professional experience and overall aptitude.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our dynamic team. The Architect will be critical in designing, modeling, and developing the logical and conceptual relationships of data for complex business systems modernization as well as hands-on development of the back-end components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, model, document, and develop logical and conceptual relationships of data and database changes for complex applications.
- Analyze the needs and requirements of both existing and proposed systems to develop robust technical, structural, and organizational specifications.
- Hands-on development of a purpose-built data model as well as all back-end components needed by the business systems.
- Communicate with key stakeholders to ensure an optimal database architecture that emphasizes performance, accessibility, and reliability with a focus on business needs and outcomes.
- Analyze and recommend improvements to existing software applications, ensuring that database performance and application interfaces are optimized.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and consult on development projects to ensure the architecture meets the project's needs and work collaboratively to adapt it to future areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Required
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Information Systems.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience.
- Strong Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and other DBMS platforms.
- Strong hands-on skills in logical and physical data modeling, relational and non-relational database design, and ERDs (Entity-Relationship Diagrams).
- Experience with data warehousing platforms such as Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Snowflake.
- Proficiency in ETL processes and tools like Talend, Informatica, SSIS, or Apache Nifi.
- Experience with cloud services like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, including knowledge of cloud-based databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
- Familiarity with data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, PowerDesigner).
- Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in an Agile environment using iterative development methodologies.
- Strongly Preferred
- Knowledge of Python, Java, R, or similar languages for data manipulation and integration.
- Experience with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik for visualizing and analyzing data.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Relevant Certifications (CDMP, AWS / Azure Certifications, etc.).
