About Us:
SMI Hotel Group is a growing hotel management company operating upscale, full-service hotels in Virginia and Texas. The Delta Hotels by Marriott Richmond Downtown is situated in the vibrant heart of Richmond's financial district, alongside the beautiful James River.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic General Manager to lead our hotel operations. This role requires an energetic self-starter who inspires the team to deliver exceptional guest service while fostering a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a high level of visibility in the hotel, regularly interacting with guests and team members.
- Develop and mentor subordinate managers, holding them accountable for departmental success.
- Inspire the team to deliver superior guest service and empower them to resolve guest complaints promptly.
- Maximize hotel revenues by anticipating market trends and developing strategic initiatives.
- Analyze competitor intelligence to grow RevPAR and RGI effectively.
- Collaborate with the Director of Sales to develop and monitor annual business and marketing plans.
- Propose the annual budget and recommend capital improvements.
- Control labor and operational expenses within budgeted guidelines.
- Utilize business data to identify opportunities for improving operational efficiencies.
- Actively engage with the local community and build relationships with local officials and key clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in hotel management or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of General Manager experience in a full-service hotel; Marriott experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and technology skills.
- Proven track record of guest service excellence and revenue growth.
- Strong background in Food and Beverage operations is a plus.
- Positive references from previous superiors, colleagues, and subordinates.
