Description:
- Full-Time
- Reporting to the Director of Maternity Suites
- The Lactation Nurse plans, implements, and evaluates the continuing educational activities for designated clinical areas. This position will be located at our Silver Spring Hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Promotes breastfeeding for optimal health and well-being of infants.
- Assess and document maternal and infant health and breastfeeding goals.
- Provide breastfeeding education and counseling to patients and families.
- Collaborates with and serves as a resource to medical and nursing staff for questions related to lactation, milk storage and handling or contraindications for breastfeeding.
- Maintains unit and patient flow, census & assignment boards and records.
- Processes orders/requests for supplies/equipment.
- Assists with admission/transfer/discharge process.
- Monitors continuously for baby alarms and doors for the secure locked unit.
- Assists Physicians and Nurses with workflow as needed.
What you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associates Degree Nursing acceptable)
- Current licensure by Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse
- Board certified as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- AHA BLS CPR
- Computer skills – Microsoft Office products.
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal, written) and fluency in the English language.
- Visual and auditory acuity.
- Ability to identify and distinguish color.
Pay rate: $37.88 - $54.19
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
