General Description:
The Security Specialist will play a key role in the management and operations of the Agency Security Program, ensuring the protection of classified information and the security of critical facilities. This position involves coordinating with various organizations, developing and enforcing security policies, and providing guidance to security staff.
Major Duties:
- Liaison and Coordination: Act as a liaison and coordinate with various organizations on security matters to ensure consistent and effective communication and collaboration.
- Procedure Development: Assist program officials in developing written procedures that comply with established security policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Policy Management: Develop, review, and revise general security policies and procedures to maintain and enhance the security framework of the organization.
- SCIF Security Management: Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of SCIF security policies and procedures, providing routine management for SCIFs and classified information security programs.
- Training and Briefings: Conduct security briefings and training sessions for personnel accessing classified information, and provide OPSEC and general security awareness training to maintain a high level of security awareness.
- Security Audits: Participate in security audits and inspections, identifying vulnerabilities, and recommending corrective actions to strengthen the security posture.
- Incident Response: Assist in incident response and reporting, including investigating security breaches, to ensure prompt and effective resolution.
- Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to security staff and other personnel on security-related matters, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulations.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changes in security regulations and best practices, advising the organization on necessary adjustments to maintain compliance and enhance security measures.
- Additional Duties: Assist with other security-related tasks as assigned to support the overall mission of the security program.
Professional Qualifications/Skills:
- Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain a current Top Secret personnel security clearance.
- Experience: Minimum of four (4), preferably six (6), years of relevant multi-disciplined security experience, including but not limited to physical security, SCIF management, secure room management, information security, and policy development.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail, ensuring clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, with the ability to create, manage, and analyze documents and reports.
- Adaptability: Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines in a dynamic work environment, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Technical Communication: Ability to discuss technical security issues with non-technical, executive-level government officials, ensuring clarity and understanding.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position may require flexibility to manage tasks as needed.
