Chief Cloud Implementation Architect – Professional Services – Top Secret/SCI w Poly – Reston VA
Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI (CI or FS Poly preferred)
Location: Reston, VA (hybrid – to start, Reston SCIF)
Job Summary
The Chief Cloud Implementation Architect will serve as the principal architect with a focus on AWS and Microsoft Azure. This role is responsible for driving technical innovation, implementing pre-designed customer architectures, ensuring high availability of the AWS infrastructure, and managing, developing & mentoring a team. The architect will design custom architectures, report on service degradation, and collaborate effectively with team members and leadership.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of experience working with AWS/Microsoft Azure-based infrastructure.
- 1-3 years of experience leading AWS/Microsoft Azure-based infrastructure.
- Certified AWS/Microsoft Azure Professional.
- 2-3 years of experience with Terraform, Ansible, and other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
- 3-5 years of experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or other RHEL-based operating systems.
- Experience in designing, architecting, and implementing AWS-based infrastructures according to customer requirements.
- 1-3 years managing, mentoring, and developing a team.
- Top Secret/SCI w/Poly clearance required (FS preferred).

Responsibilities
- Design and implement AWS/Microsoft Azure components, including EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, Security Groups, etc.
- Maintain cloud services to ensure maximum uptime and optimize performance and cost.
- Build infrastructure in compliance with Infrastructure-as-Code requirements using tools like Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation.
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines to ensure code effectiveness and quality.
- Document processes for future builds and ensure compliance.
- Monitor system health and create remediation plans for service degradation.
- Implement pre-designed architectures and design custom architectures for future offerings.
- Collaborate with internal AWS/Microsoft Azure support teams to troubleshoot service issues.
- Respond to Tier 3 service desk tickets as needed.
- Support fellow Cloud Implementation Architects in troubleshooting and role responsibilities.
- Potentially hold team lead responsibilities, including task management, leading Scrum processes, and reporting to senior leadership.
