This is a 7-month secondment to cover the Scientific Officer Network position.
Working in the Water Quality Services Department, the purpose of this role is to carry out water quality investigations, audits, ground condition assessments, sample result analysis, and report on findings. To support, and deputise in the absence of, the Operations Scientist Network, and ensure water quality is not impacted by any network activities.
Principal accountabilities:
- Operations Scientist (Network) duties are adequately deputised during their absence.
- Relevant support is provided to the Operations Scientist (Network) in monitoring and improving Network water quality performance.
- Ground condition assessments are carried out for new developments and suitable materials recommended.
- Network water quality events are investigated, and information provided to the Operations Scientist (Network).
- Structured audits are carried out and outcomes reported to Operations Scientist (Network).
- Carry out site-specific studies to identify areas at higher risk of water quality events.
- Ensure all exceedances and unusual results are responded to and investigated within prescribed timescales.
- All relevant operational network samples are taken, and water quality complies with regulatory and operational values.
- Provide expert water quality advice and support to teams involved in operational activities.
- Provide water quality training to community-based teams.
