Brief Description of Duties
The University of the District of Columbia is a public land grant institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career-focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers. The Department of Nursing, Allied Health, Life and Physical Science at the University of the District of Columbia Community College invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Respiratory Therapy Program at this HBCU in the Nation’s capital. Incumbents must teach all assigned classes and hours as determined by semester course schedule; prepare and deliver relevant curriculum to students in the respiratory therapy program using a variety of teaching methods including lecture, class discussion, demonstration labs/clinical, and projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaches assigned courses as specified in respiratory therapy, including the lectures associated with clinical experiences.
- Collaborates with the Program Director and DCE to assure adequacy of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Advises students and evaluates evidenced-based student learning outcomes.
- Participates in department, college, and university committees.
- Assesses program effectiveness and assists in curriculum development.
- Submits additional assignments as per Program Director.
- Maintains close interactions among all students enrolled in the program.
- Conducts a minimum of five office hours per week using DataArc to record student's competencies and participation in lab/clinical.
- Adheres to college and program policies and procedures.
- Participates fully in curriculum development and revision.
- Renders textbook and other instructional material recommendations.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) from an accredited college/university.
- Applicant must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist who is licensed by the District of Columbia, or eligible.
- Minimum of two years clinical experience.
- Two years of academic or clinical teaching experience.

Collective Bargaining Unit: Dependent upon certain criteria, this position may be eligible for representation and require payment of union fees through direct payroll deduction.
