Job Responsibilities
Clinical positions working under established protocols to provide highly skilled care to mental health consumers and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) patients by formulating diagnostic impressions, providing ongoing care of established patients, and providing medication when appropriate.
Assessment and Treatment
- Assessment and treatment of patients with mental disorders to include diagnosis and medication management.
- Conducts medication evaluations.
- Conducts medication review follow-ups.
- Determines and/or verifies the patients’ mental health diagnosis.
- Prescribes psychotropic medications to patients if needed.
- Makes referrals to other COMCARE mental health services if warranted.
- Orders and reviews lab tests and follows up on any abnormal results.
- Monitors pertinent vital signs.
- Participates in an “on call” rotation.
Documentation
- Completes documentation of pertinent activities in a timely and thorough manner.
- Completes a medication evaluation note or a medication review follow-up note for every patient seen.
- Completes the documentation within the agency standard of forty-eight hours from the date seen.
- Completes letters and other reports related to patient care as needed.
- Documents any medications prescribed or dispensed to patients.
- Documents the outcomes for patients of medications prescribed including side effects or benefits.

- Demonstrates dependability through appropriate use of leave time and showing up to work on time.
- Maintains knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and treatment.
- Maintains appropriate licensure.
- Demonstrates good communication and collaboration with other mental health and medical providers.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of medicine as well as from a residency program in psychiatry. MD license in the state of Kansas. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens. Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.
Preferred Qualifications
4 years of experience as a psychiatrist. MD license in the state of Kansas with board certification in psychiatry.
