General Manager
Overview:
This position has direct responsibility for day to day operations of Olgoonik Construction Services.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee project managers for assigned contracts in the successful implementation, execution and administration of the respective projects.
- Develop and manage project budgets in conjunction with the project management.
- Lead project teams, exercising a wide degree of creativity in solutions-oriented management.
- Manage and coordinate the operations of multiple projects at multiple sites including integrating new projects into the organizational structure.
- Assist senior management in the development and implementation of contract performance measurement criteria that ensure alignment and enable performance tracking against strategic and operational objectives, goals and targets.
- Coordinate the execution and administration of the delegated contracts with project managers.
- Lead and support key tactical / operational projects to drive short-term results.
- Ensure the financial success of each project through efficient scheduling, budgeting and expenditure tracking, quality assurance and training plans.
- Act as a liaison between project team and client by addressing and resolving operational issues, client’s needs and customer complaints.
- Support strategic and tactical business improvements to create profitability, competitive advantages and customer value.
- Implement strategic and operational performance measurement systems.
- Assist the President or his designee with financial and operational oversight of divisional projects. Assist as support manager for other divisions when necessary.
- Support the growth of the business through various business development activities, including proposal preparation and client visits.
- Coordinate with other divisions/departments to obtain required support on cross functional projects.
- Ensure company policies, programs and information are communicated and implemented appropriately.
- Support the President or his designee in executing the business development plan and budget.
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time by the President.
- May be expected to work in Wainwright on a rotating schedule.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position may have supervisory responsibilities for management, professional, technical, clerical, and labor staff within Olgoonik Construction Services or affiliated companies within Olgoonik’s Commercial Division.
Education and/or Experience:
- Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related discipline.
- A minimum of seven (7) years construction management experience is required.
- Additional related work experience may substitute for educational requirements using a ratio of two years of experience for one year of education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of contracting with State and Federal Governments with a strong background in construction and professional contracts.
- Experience with strategic management, project costing, operations analysis and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project management methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain QA/QC procedures.
- Ability to think strategically and work towards meeting short and long term goals.
- Ability to manage employee performance and communicate.
- Ability to monitor work and adjust priorities as needed.
- Sound business ethics and consistency in words and actions.
- Leadership ability that will enhance the skills and spirit of our employees, foster a stimulating work environment that embraces diversity, encourage open communication and foster respect for the individual while accomplishing corporate objectives.
- Adept in the use of Microsoft Suite programs.
