Location: Boston or Seattle preferred
This position offers a preferred flexible work model of two days in the office (either Boston or Seattle) and three days working from home but is also available as a fully remote model for a strong candidate.
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
The compensation available for this opportunity will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, overall experience, and skill level.
Typical starting salary is $125,000-$150,000.

Liberty Mutual Corporate Tax Department

In this role you will become a consummate tax professional vs. merely a specialist or tax technician.

A successful candidate will need to take ownership of key projects and deliverables, as well as manage ambiguity. Responsibilities:
As a member of the international tax team, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Manage the timely and accurate preparation and review of complex tax compliance assignments, including forms 5471, 8858, 926, and foreign tax credits.
- Review and approve tax-related financial calculations, analyses, journal entries and disclosures.
- Conduct research for complex tax technical and income tax accounting issues independently, or with assistance of staff.
- Manage projects, ensuring adequate resources and capabilities are available to deliver results successfully.
- Assign and review responses to IRS information requests and proactively identify issues.
- Develop and support the implementation of timely, cost-effective tax planning strategies designed to create value and enhance the Company's worldwide tax position.
- Actively lead and participate in Department and Company initiatives.
- Identify, develop, and lead the implementation of process improvements.
- Monitor key legislative, regulatory, and/or tax litigation issues. Identify and communicate developments relevant to the Company to management.
- Lead and mentor staff through training, coaching and providing feedback on performance.
- Work effectively with other areas of Corporate Tax and other Finance functions and demonstrate leadership in cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Advanced degree or certification preferred (MST, MSA, MBA, CPA or JD).
- Insurance industry experience preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of at least 6 years of US International tax experience (financial reporting, compliance, audit, planning) or equivalent, preferably with a major public accounting firm or large multi-national company.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Strong ability to lead large projects effectively.
- Highly motivated individual with ability to multitask and complete deliverables within time constraints and deadlines.
- Strong critical thinking ability and financial acumen.
- Highly analytical and detail oriented.
- Strong issue and opportunity recognition skills.
- Advanced financial reporting skills.
- Proven track record of process improvement.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to provide clear and concise information to both tax and non-tax audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
