Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Building Services team, in the MidAtlantic Sector, based in our Washington, DC office, while also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid model, and will work on commercial and industrial building infrastructure projects.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Develop drawings, specifications, and studies necessary to successfully deliver quality projects to clients
- Proactively communicate with clients and project team members during design, bidding, and construction
- Perform QA/QC review of specifications, reports, code application, RFI/submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
- Undertake field investigations (i.e. building condition assessments, field measurements, construction inspections, etc.)
- Prepare layouts and design of mechanical building systems (i.e. HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, drainage, controls, and other specialized systems).
- Create project specific details to clarify scope and assist with interface/coordination between building systems.
- Prepare calculations for ductwork, piping, drainage, etc. and incorporate in technical drawings.
- Conduct analysis to size and select equipment (i.e. chillers, boilers, AHUs, CT, terminal units, etc.) Develop associated schedules. Coordinate with project team members to ensure design is complete a correct.
- Perform life cycle cost analysis and energy/cost calculations for HVAC systems.
- Conduct technical code and calculation review to support building system design.
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ Years of relevant HVAC design experience
- Experience in designing HVAC systems for building projects across multiple industry segments (governmental, education, commercial, entertainment, etc.)
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in DC, MD, and/or VA preferred or eligible for immediate registration
- Client centric approach to management of your business portfolio
- A solid understanding of mechanical systems design, construction, project/budget management and proposal preparation.
- Background in preparation of construction documents, including specifications and cost estimates.
- Proficiency with REVIT / BIM technologies and software.
- Proven track record in successful client relationship management, proactive communication and problem solving.
The pay range for this role is $95,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
