The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will lead and manage all medical operations in the organization, a safety net hospital serving Chicago’s underserved communities. They will focus on advancing the quality of care, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and overseeing clinical policies to achieve optimal patient outcomes. As the first CMO in the organization’s 150-year history, the role demands a visionary leader to promote innovation, health equity, and community health outreach.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership for the development and implementation of clinical policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Oversee medical staff to foster a culture of quality, patient safety, and clinical excellence.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align clinical strategies with organizational goals.
- Act as a liaison between medical staff and hospital administration, ensuring open communication and collaboration.
- Lead initiatives for improving patient care, health equity, and access to care.
- Ensure the effective implementation of best practices in healthcare delivery, leveraging research and data.
- Manage relationships with local and national healthcare agencies, ensuring that the hospital remains in compliance with accreditation and certification standards.
Position Requirements:
- Experience working in safety net hospitals or organizations focused on underserved communities.
- Knowledge of population health management and health equity initiatives.
- Deep understanding of healthcare operations, including patient safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in improving clinical quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with diverse stakeholders.
Education Requirements:
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, or business administration.
- MD or DO degree with active medical licensure in Illinois or ability to obtain said license.
