The Reliability Engineer will support the KGS contract in Northridge, California.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and document electrical interface systems engineering products including electrical interface and grounding requirements and verifications, ground trees, electrical interface function lists and circuit data sheets, and electrical services resource reports.
- Develop and document electrical systems engineering products including power and energy models and margin reports, power requirements and verifications, and functional design.
- Provide survey of commercial optical/radio (RF) communications reliability assessment.
- Review customer reliability assessment to determine key drivers of reliability.
- Generate a prioritized list of the most susceptible components within design for the Optical Terminal and Amplifier Controller (OTAC), Optical Head Assembly (OHA) & Acacia Modem.
- Create reliability block diagram for a single-string Optical Communications Terminal (OCT) using available reliability information from Purchaser.
- Provide an updated design for reliability architecture trade with a single KOPA power supply module.
- Determine reliability probability of success (P_s) of Gen 0 Optical Communications Terminal Electronics (OCTE) and KOPA.
- Determine reliability P_s of Gen 1+ OCTE and KOPA.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related technical field.
- Must have 15+ years of recent and related experience.
- In lieu of degree: Candidates with 19+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated skills in coordinating with other teams.
- Experience within a multidisciplinary system engineering or test environment.
- Preparation of product reliability reports and plans.
- Expertise in digital, analog, or RF design and analysis, such as FMECA, WCA, PSA, SEEA, reliability assessment, modeling, prediction trade-off studies, system evaluations; failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action; use of computer-aided engineering tools.
- Experienced in analysis and assessment of Quad-E parts for space applications.
- Proficient in defining and implementing the electrical systems engineering model-based systems engineering product development process.
- Experience in testing of systems, including test planning, test procedure development, and data analysis.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with development of formal procedures and documentation relating to space flight hardware.
- Ability to react to frequent changes in plans and excel in a rapid pace concurrent engineering environment.
- Understanding of Laboratory policies and procedures and government regulations across a range of applications.
- Experience using ECAD tools for design.
- Experience in using circuit and system level electrical modeling and analysis tools, specifically with Cadence and SPICE.
- First-principles working knowledge of all major spacecraft.
DESIRED:
- Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) at the group level or higher in Space Vehicle Electrical and Power Systems Engineering.
- Previous experience in Spacecraft Systems Integration.
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is located onsite.
- This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off.
- This position may require some travel.
