Job Preview at a Glance:
The Psychiatrist specializes in diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other behavioral health related needs, serving the child and adult population.
Location and Schedule: This is a Monday-Friday in-office position, working out of the Metro and Mesa Outpatient services.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis & Assessment:
- Conduct thorough evaluations to diagnose autism and related disorders using standardized tools and interviews.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to gather information and insights from parents, teachers, behavioral health professionals, and other caregivers.
- Treatment Planning:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic findings.
- Recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions, including medication management and behavioral therapies.
- Patient Care:
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up care for patients with autism and other related behavioral health needs.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Education & Advocacy:
- Educate patients and families about autism and available resources.
- Advocate for patients’ needs within the healthcare system and community.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with Psychologists, MA's, Therapists, BCBA's, and group homes.
- Participate in case conferences and share insights to enhance patient care.
Qualifications:
- Requires Arizona License to practice Medicine (M.D. / D.O.) Boarded or Board eligible in Psychiatry.
- Demonstrated experience in assessment, planning, and utilization of psychotropic medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations and best practices.
- Three years’ experience in the supervision of medical clinicians in the delivery of mental health services to children/adolescents/adults in the Public Behavioral Health system preferred.
- Must have fingerprint clearance issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or be eligible to receive within eight (8) weeks of hire.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Prior experience in diagnosing and treating autism spectrum disorder preferred.
- Familiarity with evidence-based practices and interventions for ASD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
