Scope of Job
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School Of Medicine is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible physician in Surgery to establish a specialty practice in Breast Surgery. In addition, they will participate in scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, prepare and provide didactics, participate in the evaluation of the residents and medical students, develop programs and preparation for CLER and RRC site visits. While previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred, individuals just finishing residency/fellowship training are highly encouraged to apply. As faculty, administer and maintain a professional educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competencies and in assisting them to reach their individual Milestones, plus educating medical students in the practice of Breast Surgery. Working within the UT Health RGV clinical mission, the Department has outstanding educational and scholarly activities for medical students and a growing Surgery program. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
MD or DO degree with Board Certification in General Surgery or board eligible. Must possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
Completed a General Surgery residency from an ACGME accredited program and completion of a Breast Surgery Fellowship.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
