The Safety Manager works to ensure the safety of Skyline Construction (“Skyline”) employees, subcontractors, and the general public on our projects. This involves enforcing Skyline Construction’s Safety and Health Policies and Procedures, and performing duties necessary to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal safety and health regulations. In addition, the Safety Manager conducts safety training for project employees and consults with project supervisors to develop safe work plans.
As a Safety Manager, you will serve in the following areas:- Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, and general public by conducting regular jobsite safety walks with Field Superintendents.
- Participate in interviews with clients on project opportunities.
- The role will involve regular travel to Skyline project jobsites in the Bay Area, Southern CA, and occasionally up to San Jose.
- Some travel to other areas will be required.
- Training:
- Conduct / present a wide variety of training topics to various groups including Skyline employees, trade partner employees and other outside personnel.
- Manage, conduct, develop and maintain ongoing regional safety training efforts for Skyline employees, including OSHA 10/30 Hour certification, 1st aid CPR certifications, New Employee orientations, site-specific orientations, mobile elevated work platforms, ladder, tool specific training, and other procedural process training.
- Safety Resource:
- Act as safety resource for Skyline personnel.
- Perform field related activities, site inspections, attend / coordinate site meetings.
- Document activities in Procore.
- Knowledgeable to maintain programs and procedures [IIPP, Safety Manual, etc.].
- Accident and Incident Investigations:
- Ensure appropriate treatment of injuries/accidents are followed.
- Conduct post-accident investigation of all accidents and near misses within 24 hours of an incident; write a job-hazard analysis; provide applicable safety reports to HR to submit workers compensation carrier reports.
- Maintain OSHA records and required reporting.
- Handle incident notification to Cal OSHA.
- Cal OSHA Interaction.
- Represent Skyline in any Cal OSHA site audit.
- Contribute, manage and respond to any Cal OSHA request.
- Manage the application process for applicable Cal OSHA project permits.
- Construction:
- Conduct pre-project walks, pre-task safety planning meetings etc. with Project Executive, Project Manager, General Superintendent, Superintendent, Subcontractor(s) and other parties as applicable to ensure such tasks are implemented.
- Conduct safety audits on projects, review safety recommendations with Superintendent, and issue Audit Report within 24 hours of site visit. Follow-up to ensure all recommendations have been implemented and deficiencies addressed in the audit have been remedied.
- Ensure Superintendents are holding safety meetings and review and maintain Safety Minutes in central file.
- Work closely with Superintendents and Project Teams to address, plan, prepare and identify performance standards and practices.
The successful candidate will possess:- Proven experience of a minimum 4 years in Safety as a Safety Manager in the Construction Industry.
- BS/BA in safety management or relative field, or a valid certificate in occupational health and safety, desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Procore experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, motivational skills.
- Extensive knowledge in Cal OSHA regulations.
- Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
- Ability with producing reports and developing relevant policies.
- Solid knowledge of risk assessment.
- Valid Driver's license.
- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to utilize a computer to perform data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet operations.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with management, staff, and outside entities.
- Will be required to safely walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see and hear.

- Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions at job sites, including wet and/or humid conditions, cold, and heat. For renovation work, hazardous material or conditions may be present in the existing building. The noise level at these sites may be unusually loud at times. Job sites are typically dusty.
- Driving Requirement:
- The employee must agree to and shall be held accountable for the provisions of the company’s Auto/Fleet Safety Program.

$90,000 - $150,000 a year
The actual salary offer will be carefully considered based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for health, disability, life, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
