Position Overview
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the strategy, execution and day-to-day management and maintenance of the organization’s information technology infrastructure and operations. This includes the management of applications, business continuity, facility A/V and networking systems, staff technology onboarding and training, helpdesk operations, information security, infrastructure, new IT projects, vendor and personnel management. You will lead technical systems and collaborate with staff throughout the organization to improve program outcomes and efficiency of business operations, and you will play a leading role in advancing digital innovation in our data-driven organization culture. This role reports to the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.
Location
This position is based in Washington, DC near McPherson Square Metro as part of a hybrid environment with Tuesdays, Thursdays, and sometimes Wednesdays in the office.
Responsibilities
- Assess technology needs of the organization and make recommendations on IT solutions to streamline efficiency and business operations
- Advise senior executives on innovative, strategic IT solutions
- Plan and implement software and hardware projects across the organization
- Maintain inventory of all organizational technology assets; continually assess inventory and ensure efficient deployment of assets, including hardware and software licenses
- Oversee selection and purchase of all IT solutions
- Install, set up and configure hardware and software for new and existing users
- Create policies and procedures on organizational technology use
- Provide support and customer service on IT issues to all users at the organization
- Manage the relationships with all outside vendors to troubleshoot day-to-day IT challenges
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery measures
- Plan and manage IT budget; monitor spending
- Provide staff training on technology tools and solutions
- Collaborate with all departments in planning and budgeting
- Collaborate with publishing, membership, training, executive, and other teams to set up and support the apps they use, achieve business goals, and improve digital experiences
- Provide leadership and vision to improve and evolve our systems and improve our results
- Assess various options for optimizing and customizing systems
- Lead or participate in the evaluation, selection, setup and launch of new systems to address new requirements and to ensure systems, processes and data integration
- Ensure design and brand standards are applied and improved
- In collaboration with other teams, manage and maintain systems and services for web hosting, events, training, CRM, bulk email, digital marketing, publishing, advertising, analytics and others
- Manage staff and vendors for day-to-day tech administration, project management and support
- Other technical projects and duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of IT management experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Skilled and proficient in server management, cloud storage management, network and firewall configuration, Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace, antivirus software, CRM, Windows and Macintosh operating systems, printer networking and configuration, VOIP systems
- Knowledge of contracting and budget management
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize multiple projects and tasks, and operate in a fast-paced work environment
- Nonprofit management experience preferred
