The Role
The Director Business Development supports the Business Development & Licensing group within the BD department. This individual reports into the Sr. Director BD&L.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the execution of business development strategy in support of Genmab's preclinical, clinical and commercial portfolio, by driving identification, diligence and negotiation of portfolio-supporting license-based transactions and partnerships.
- Structure, negotiate and close licensing transactions with existing and new partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with partners to ensure customer satisfaction and create new business opportunities.
- Prepare opportunity assessments with scientific/portfolio rationale, partnership framework, financial assessment, analysis of competitive landscape and comparable deal terms.
- Collaborate with/lead cross-functional teams (R&D, IP, Legal, Finance, Commercial) to evaluate and execute on deal opportunities.
- Collaborate with the wider BD team to formulate partnering strategy and objectives by providing insights and making recommendations with significant potential impact.
Requirements
- Master's degree in life sciences or related area. Advanced degree (MBA/MSc/PHD) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Biotech/Pharma or related industry with 5+ years in Business Development & Licensing.
- Greater experience in deal structuring and license contract negotiations, having completed multiple deals (as evidenced by deal sheet).
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in people and budget management.
For US-based candidates, the proposed salary band for this position is as follows: $165,000.00—$275,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses.
