JOB SUMMARY
The Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for working in collaboration with the Director of Sales and Marketing Managers developing and executing strategic sales and marketing plans to drive revenue growth, increase market share, and enhance the overall brand presence of our hotels. The individual is additionally responsible for staying ahead of market trends, market share movement, and ongoing competitive analysis for all MDM hotels, while directing the property sales teams (rooms & catering) to ensure budgeted revenues are met or exceeded. The Corporate Director of Sales & Marketing is also responsible for developing and implementing a marketing communications plan designed to achieve the desired positioning for all MDM hotels, as well as managing the sales and marketing budget that supports revenue attainment.
JOB SPECIFIC TASKS
- Developing sales and marketing strategies: You will be responsible for creating effective strategies to increase revenue, occupancy rates, and brand visibility aligned with the company's business goals and objectives. This includes identifying target markets, pricing strategies, promotional activities, and advertising campaigns.
- Sales management: You will oversee the sales team at each hotel and provide guidance on achieving sales targets. This involves developing sales plans, monitoring performance, and analyzing sales data to identify areas for improvement. You will also establish relationships with key clients, negotiate contracts, and participate in sales meetings. Responsible for leading & driving top line revenue for traditional sales segments to include group, volume transient & catering. Fluent in reading/assimilating/using research data, financial P&L, mix of sales, forecasting, group pace/position & a wide array of traditional hotel reporting. Develop/implement key segment strategy & managing key accounts (both existing & target).
- Marketing and brand promotion: You will lead marketing efforts at each hotel to enhance brand recognition and attract potential guests. This includes overseeing digital marketing campaigns, managing social media presence, organizing events, and collaborating with PR agencies. Additionally, you may be responsible for collaborating with the Marketing team creating marketing collateral and maintaining each hotels’ website. Develops and implements a marketing communications plan designed to achieve the desired positioning of each hotel. Function as each hotel's voice of the customer and communicate key issues/concerns at all levels of the organization.
- Market research and analysis: Keeping up to date with market trends, competitor analysis, and customer preferences is crucial. You will need to conduct market research to identify new opportunities, gather customer feedback, and make data-driven decisions to drive marketing and sales initiatives. Ability to understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand and economic factors affecting each hotel’s performance. Conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews, SWOT analysis & track new supply.
- Budgeting and forecasting: Managing the sales and marketing budget for each hotel is part of your role. You will collaborate with finance teams to forecast revenue, allocate resources, and monitor expenses. Efficient budgeting skills are necessary to ensure profitability and achieve business objectives.
- Training and leadership: As a Corporate Director, you will provide leadership and guidance to the sales and marketing teams. This involves hiring and training staff, monitoring performance, setting goals, and fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Guest Satisfaction: Ensures sales and marketing information provided to each hotel’s operations departments is timely, accurate and enables property to meet or exceed guest expectations, create customer loyalty, and grow market share. Ensures execution of brand service strategy and applicable brand initiatives in all sales processes and continually focuses on improving guest satisfaction.
- Overall: your role as a Corporate Hotel Sales and Marketing Director is integral to the success and collaboration with the teams of each hotel, driving sales, and building a strong brand presence in the market.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Marketing/Business Administration
- At least 3/5 years' experience as a sales leader, with prior hotel sales experience.
- Experience dealing with/communicating with ownership groups and asset management.
- Proficient in managing/using sales automation systems. Marriott’s preferable.
- Experience working collaboratively with revenue management.
- Well-rounded knowledge of all market segments and channel sources, as well as ability to develop a strategic plan for each.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong people skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to direct, lead, train, motivate & drive a direct sales team; and develop a cooperative & competitive team spirit & winning attitude.
- Must be proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
