We are seeking an Executive Director to join our leadership team at Toshiba's Software Development HQ, driving critical software initiatives that deliver exceptional customer outcomes and business value.
What You'll Do:
As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for the technical leadership and operational execution of software development at our HQ. You'll lead large, cross-functional engineering teams, driving strategic initiatives that ensure timely, high-quality software delivery in a high-intensity, high-demand environment. You'll be the driving force behind the digital transformation efforts that optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance our overall software portfolio.
Reporting to the VP of Software Development, you will work in close collaboration with other Executive Directors and stakeholders globally to align on strategy and execution. You will be at the center of ensuring that our core software platforms and applications are developed and supported to meet the needs of the fast-moving, complex retail industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership in a High-Stakes Environment: Lead and manage HQ-based engineering teams in a high-intensity, high-demand setting, ensuring your teams can consistently deliver under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and innovation.
- Drive Digital Transformation: Spearhead initiatives to modernize the development process, improve operational efficiency, and integrate cutting-edge technology solutions.
- Agile & Scalable Processes: Implement and refine scaled agile frameworks to enable rapid delivery in a complex, dynamic environment, balancing the need for speed with the rigor required for high-quality software delivery.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide engineering leaders and teams, fostering a culture of innovation, resilience, and continuous learning, even in high-pressure situations. Develop the next generation of engineering talent.
- Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with the VP of Software Development and other Executive Directors globally to ensure alignment on strategy, operational priorities, and resource allocation across multiple regions.
- Stakeholder Management: Work closely with key internal stakeholders and top external customers to ensure that the solutions delivered align with their expectations, maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction even under tight timelines.
- Continuous Improvement & Metrics: Track and improve key performance metrics to ensure that your teams are delivering reliable, repeatable results. Drive accountability for meeting or exceeding performance goals across all initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Proven Leadership in Complex Environments: 10+ years of experience leading large, high-performing teams in fast-paced, high-demand environments, with a proven ability to deliver critical software projects under pressure.
- Software Product Expertise: At least 5+ years of experience in software product development, with deep experience in delivering enterprise-grade solutions that drive revenue.
- Digital Transformation Leadership: Demonstrated success in driving large-scale digital transformation initiatives that result in significant operational improvements.
- Expertise in Scaled Agile: Strong experience implementing scaled agile frameworks that enable teams to deliver rapidly and efficiently in a high-demand environment.
- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of SDLC tools, continuous integration, automated testing, and configuration management in complex software environments.
- Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to thrive in high-stress environments, remaining calm under pressure and effectively managing competing priorities.
- Customer Engagement: Direct experience working with large, high-volume customers, understanding their needs, and delivering software that exceeds expectations.
- Collaboration & Influence: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders across the organization and manage conflicting priorities.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
