Our Solution Architects, reporting to the sector Chief Technology Officer, collaborate across the enterprise to infuse cybersecurity from the start of every project and pursuit, and play a key role in transforming our organization to meet the ever-changing needs of defense, intelligence, and federal sector customers.
The Solution Architect (SA) serves as a core technical subject matter expert in offensive and defensive cyber operations, weapon system assessments, Cyber Security Operations Center concepts, enterprise and cloud security, DevSecOps pipelines and supporting infrastructure, and acts as a cyber design authority for pursuits across the Federal Defense, Intelligence, and Civil markets. The SA is a member of a team of technical experts and is given opportunities to lead and grow. The SA develops technical solutions in response to Government requests for information, market surveys, and requests for proposal. The SA leads development of technical solutions and must be familiar with and contribute to management, staffing, schedule, and cost components of the solutions.
The SA builds and maintains deep technical expertise, as well as developing and describing winning solutions. The SA participates in early phase marketing, such as concept development, white paper generation, and directed research, and may direct research or intern teams to develop or enhance key capabilities enabling expansion into new lines of business.
Duties and Responsibilities include leading and developing:
- I&S sector strategy and templates for cybersecurity and support
- Mature and coherent approach for cyber resilient solutions
- Tailoring cybersecurity engineering, architecture, and operations approaches for programs and bids
- Supporting immediate pursuits
- Introducing innovation to current programs
- Advising agile software development teams developing prototypes
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor Degree in appropriate discipline (e.g. Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering) and a minimum of 12 years of industry or government experience.
OR
Master’s Degree in appropriate discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5+ years of computer science/software development experience.
Required Experience Skills:
- 12+ years of experience (with a Bachelor Degree) or 10+ years of experience (with a Master’s Degree) in industry or government with Cyber engineering, architecture, and/or operations
- 5+ years of experience leading a diverse team of technical and operational specialists, and involving the development of novel or innovative new solutions.
- 5+ years of experience with Government proposals including technical solution development
- Demonstrated ability to decompose complex system and cyber requirements into easy to understand solutions with clear value propositions.
- Practitioner-level knowledge of principles of cyber secure and cyber resilient architecture, engineering, and sustainment.
- Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at the most senior levels of government (customer) or corporate management (company) to articulate the understanding of their mission needs and requirements, and to communicate the value and benefit of BAE Systems solutions.
- Demonstrated computer science, research, and development experience.
- Level III 8570 certification for IAT, IAM, or IASAE, e.g. CISSP, CASP+, GICSP

Preferred Skills and Education
- Demonstrated ability to lead and win complex opportunities with the Federal Government. Should have led winning proposals with total contract value on individual deals over $75M.
- Experience characterizing system attack surface, prioritizing vulnerabilities, characterizing risk
- Knowledge of software development, containerization, automated DevSecOps pipeline tools and cloud native design principles
- Knowledge of agile system development methodologies including requirement engineering, configuration management, technical baseline management, cost estimating and analysis, and decision support methodologies
- Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, including scope, cost and schedule, and resource management, including Earned Value Management
- Experience collaborating across organizations and OEMs, participating in industry forums and conferences, writing and presenting technical papers
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
