The Associate Dean, MBA Admissions serves as the primary admissions and recruitment lead for the suite of MBA programs at the McDonough School of Business. The Associate Dean is responsible for planning and executing an integrated marketing and recruiting strategy to attract highly qualified and diverse students for each program and setting policies and criteria to evaluate, interview, admit, yield, and retain applicants. Overseeing a staff of admissions professionals and external contract workers/paid student assistants, the Associate Dean allocates responsibilities per the admissions process's needs and develops and supervises the admissions office budget of approximately 5 Million Dollars. Duties include but are not limited to:
Leadership & Supervision
- Report to the Senior Associate Dean of MBA Programs, directly supervising admissions professionals.
- Indirectly supervise contract workers and student assistants.
- Serve as a senior staff member, working with the Sr. Associate Dean to manage the strategic direction of MBA programs.
Strategic & Operational Collaboration
- Act as a liaison with Admissions Directors of other graduate programs at Georgetown and McDonough.
- Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer and senior marketing professionals.
- Coordinate with admissions and marketing offices of top MBA and graduate programs at other universities.
- Engage with government and private organization employers to enhance the Georgetown McDonough brand.
Student Recruitment & Evaluation
- Meet with current students to identify improvements in recruitment processes.
- Travel domestically and internationally to participate in recruitment events.
- Present to hundreds of prospective students, evaluating candidates for fit with the MBA program.
External Relations, Brand Development, Strategic Presentations, & Meetings
- Develop relationships with industry organizations like GMAC, CGSM, AMA Higher Ed, and AACSB.
- Participate in annual conferences and advisory boards and enhance external peer perception of the university.
- Represent the MBA Admissions team at high-level meetings such as the Executive Council, State of the School, and MAAC Advisory Council.
- Work with professional and clerical staff to refine application processes.
Work Interactions
The Associate Dean collaborates with the Director (or Leader) of Marketing (MBA and Grad/Executive Programs) to manage the integrated marketing and recruitment strategies (e.g., external marketing firm management, brand management, communication strategy, internal marketing team management, Marketo marketing automation tool, events, external partnerships) of all degree programs to include full funnel paid social, search, native, out-of-home, digital, and sponsored content campaign and organic social, video, blog, event, and email communication campaign. The Associate Dean coordinates with the Director of Marketing (MBA and Grad/Executive Programs) to elevate brand awareness through internal and external partnerships and proactive media engagement. These programs require global recruitment, traveling both domestically and internationally to speak with prospective students. The incumbent serves on key senior leadership task forces to manage the marketing launch of new degree programs and initiatives and is expected to be visible in the business school industry and with media and external partners.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree in business, higher education, or counseling.
- At least twelve years of experience in an admissions leadership role.
- Marketing and communications experience and supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership and management skills with extremely strong interpersonal abilities and strong team orientation.
- Ability to work with various constituencies including prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to think strategically in the delivery of programs and services.
- Ability to create a marketing plan based on program data and industry information.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is: $135,188.00 - $264,291.85. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
