About the role:
This position is located in the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Office of Energy (OE). The incumbent serves as senior specialist managing complex insurance projects that involve significant risk and judgments of insurable interests.
What you’ll do:
As an Insurance Projects Specialist (Investment Insurance Officer), you will:
- Perform a range of activities in the political risk insurance origination process.
- Conduct due diligence on projects in developing countries.
- Provide concise written analysis of pertinent host country political risks.
- Provide analysis of relevant risks related to complex investment structures.
- Structure political risk coverage on complex deals.
- Present the political risk insurance approval papers to required committees.
- Negotiate and execute detailed international political risk insurance contracts.
- Independently identify new business opportunities.
Experience we’re looking for:
Applicants must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements no later than the closing date of this announcement.
You may qualify at the GS-12 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:
- Experience working on international projects or investments.
- Experience working on political risk analysis of business ventures.
- Experience identifying issues in political, economic, or credit risks.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:
- Experience conducting political risk analysis in developing countries.
- Experience identifying issues in political, economic, or credit risks.
- Experience analyzing changes in investment conditions and political climate.
You may qualify at the GS-14 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirements:
- Experience completing the full range of origination of international political risk insurance contracts.
- Experience guiding clients through eligibility and approval processes.
- Experience identifying host country political risks.
- Experience developing networks and customer contacts.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Must submit resume and supporting documents
- Suitability for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
- This position will require foreign travel to developing countries
