The Optum Now team is building a consumer-focused platform for healthcare. On this team you will work with modern technologies to integrate health information, coaching, marketplace, provider information into a consumer-focused web application to empower people to manage their health and fully utilize the benefits available to them.
As a team member you will work with other engineering teams across the organization to design and implement bespoke integrations with the various products and technologies in the RVO Health suite. You’ll be responsible for retrieving data from throughout the ecosystem, building effective aggregation and storage solutions, and surfacing to client-side applications performantly. You will apply your skills in a highly dynamic, innovative, forward-thinking environment that follows industry best practices and fosters engineering culture.
A qualified candidate is… a seasoned engineer with solid experience with NodeJS and Typescript, cloud hosting and architecture, infrastructure as code, strong software integration experience and experience with defining technical solutions. You will develop application code hands-on and collaborate with the team members and stakeholders to define innovative digital solutions. You must be a strong communicator and capable of collaborating across functions and teams to translate business requirements into maintainable, scalable, reliable, and compliant technical solutions.
Where You'll Be
To prioritize togetherness, culture, and accountability, RVO Health operates on a hybrid in-office work schedule. We expect employees to work from our Atlanta office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week. You are welcome to work remotely Mondays and Fridays if you wish.

What You’ll Do
- Design and develop product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
- Collaborate with product and IT stakeholders to build an understanding of systems or APIs involved in integrations
- Recommend and implement complex integrated solutions that fulfill business requirements and align with technology roadmaps
- Ensure that all delivered solutions adhere to industry best practices for scalability, maintainability, usability, availability, extensibility, security, and portability
- Work with a cross-functional product team to architect applications that meet business requirements and adhere to technical standards
- Ensure high quality deliverables by demonstrating leadership in code reviews and test practices
- Be aware of current security trends and tools, and advocate for the incorporation of new security technologies as requirements evolve
- Work with product owners, product managers, and other stakeholders to groom & solution features
- Provide accurate and timely estimates for features, user stories, and tasks
- Contribute to defining technical roadmaps; identify technical improvement and refactoring opportunities
- Work with geographically distributed Agile teams
- Participate in rotational on-call schedules as needed
- Work outside of standard office hours as needed and, on occasion, support night-time releases
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field OR equivalent experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with backend web development languages such as NodeJS, GoLang, C#, PHP, Java, Ruby, etc.
- 5+ years of experience building and integrating with APIs
- 3+ years of working experience with CI/CD pipelines
- 3+ years experience developing for and deploying to a cloud platform like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- 1+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform
- 1+ years of experience with data storage solutions, including relational databases
- 1+ years of experience with GraphQL
- Working knowledge of or experience with Agile development lifecycle
- Curiosity and growth mindset to learn new technologies to solve interesting problems.
Pursuant to various state Fair Pay Acts, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company. The following benefits are provided by RVO Health, subject to eligibility requirements.
- Starting Salary: $118,650 - $168,088*
