Job Purpose
As the Head Software Architect, you will be the visionary behind our software architecture and technology strategy. Your mission is to design and implement cutting-edge, scalable, and secure software solutions that power our embedded and cloud-native services. In this dynamic role, you will ensure architectural harmony across platforms while driving technological breakthroughs relevant to business opportunities. Your blend of technical prowess, strategic insight, and leadership will guide the creation and integration of complex software systems. You will collaborate closely with senior management, engineering teams, product management, and other stakeholders to align our software architecture with business goals and the latest tech advancements. Reporting to both the SVP of One Engineering and the VP of Digital, you’ll be at the heart of our innovation engine.
Job Description
Architecture Leadership:
- Define and implement the software architecture strategy for controls and automation, performance monitoring, on-prem software and Cloud Native solutions. Provide technical leadership and drive decisions on scalability, performance, and security.
Technology Vision:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends. Develop and communicate a technology roadmap aligned with the strategic plan.
System Design, Data Integration, and Data Management:
- Oversee the design and integration of complex software systems. Support data management to drive growth and improve efficiencies.
Mentorship and Development:
- Mentor and coach junior software team members. Support and guide all Chapter leads. Conduct architectural reviews to ensure quality.
Internal/External Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Engage with internal stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Maintain relationships with key roles and communicate architectural decisions.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce architectural standards and best practices. Implement testing processes to ensure reliability and security.
Program Management:
- Lead and manage chapters, ensuring teams meet standards. Facilitate decision-making for architectural frameworks and standards.
You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years in software development, at least 5 years in a senior architectural role. Proven track record of designing and delivering complex software systems at scale.
- Experience in controls and automation, performance monitoring, on-prem software engineering and cloud-native development. Extensive knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices. Proficiency in multiple programming languages and development frameworks.
- Familiarity with the energy industry technology provider landscape, EPC companies, and leading enterprise software platforms.
- Deep understanding of SaaS economics, architecture, integration, and support considerations.
- Experience with developing internal and external data integration platforms, including APIs and data exchanges.
- Strong understanding of security with relevant certifications (e.g., SOC2/Type 2, ISO 27001).
- Experience supporting SaaS development, including microservices architecture, containerization, and multi-tenant architectures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud computing, including cloud service provider platforms, infrastructure as code, cloud monitoring, and cost control. Experience in leading successful cloud migrations.
- Familiarity with edge computing, IoT integration, and remote management.
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
- Experience with energy industry controls and automation software, performance monitoring, on-prem software and cloud-native software.
- Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure Certified Architect, ITIL, COBIT, Zachman, Microsoft Azure certifications, and IT Delivery model certifications (SAFe Agile, PMP, DevOps, Six Sigma).
