Summary/Objective
The Affinities Director (AD) will oversee the Corporate Partnership Program (CPP) and the Business and Professional Network (BPN) giving society on the Financial Resource and Development team of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. The AD is responsible for analyzing and implementing strategy to grow the CPP engagement and revenue, culminating in the planning and execution of the annual spring Economic Forum. The AD also oversees BPN, a new and growing giving affinity group of MJF through developing and implementing strategies for leadership engagement while ensuring the growth of gifts to the annual campaign. The AD also manages a large portfolio of active donors with pre-determined goals and outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements an annual Corporate Partnership plan that establishes quantifiable and measurable goals and related strategies for growing engagement with the greater Milwaukee business community to the work of MJF through sponsorship of our annual Economic Forum and other key events.
- Oversees all aspects of the ideation and execution for the spring annual Economic Forum which includes working with lay leadership, marketing and event manager to identify and secure national speaker, program management and meeting/exceeding targeted annual revenue goals.
- Develops, implements and leads the Business and Professional Network giving society through cultivation, stewardship, engagement and philanthropy. The Director is responsible for setting an annual BPN operating plan with quantifiable and measurable goals and related strategies for programmatic, fundraising and volunteer activities.
- Works to build/oversee BPN lay leadership board to further engagement and philanthropic giving. Responsible for identifying and stewarding BPN Campaign Cabinet members.
- Works in partnership with development colleagues and other departments of Federation to support the Financial Resource Development model to maximize fundraising efforts in the annual campaign, planned giving and endowment, and supplemental giving.
- Cultivates and stewards donor prospects and carries a personal portfolio of donors.
- Engages in community activities and serves as a leadership role model in the community.
- Monitors budgets for CPP and BPN.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Portfolio of Gift Prospects and Donors
- Manage relationships for assigned donors including cultivating, keeping them informed and making annual and any integrated asks.
- Implement effective tracking, reporting and communications for Affinity Groups as defined.
- Serve as a proactive donor relationship manager.
- Prepare and implement a strategic plan for the cultivation and solicitation of an assigned portfolio.
- Identify new high capacity prospects for assignment in consultation with Financial Resource Development Team.
- Responsible for growing the mid-range gifts of the annual campaign, while maintaining a large portfolio of active donors with pre-determined goals and outcomes.
Gift Stewardship
- Responsible for organizing and leading events to attract new and existing donors to increase engagement with MJF.
- Working in coordination with FRD team to effectively manage campaign records and timelines.
- Maximize face to face solicitation creating new relationships to steward giving increase.
- Work with program staff as needed to acquire knowledge needed to solicit gifts and build donor relationships effectively.
- Ability to effectively increase gift giving by moving donors to the next tier of giving.
- Works to ensure the achievement of campaign targets to support strategic organizational priorities by energizing and engaging funding sources.
Required Experience
- 5 – 7+ years plus of development, sales or related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to network to develop donor prospects.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to develop strategic plans and implement those plans.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tell compelling stories to inspire donors.
- Ability to use discretion when handling and communicating sensitive information.
- Knowledge of Milwaukee Jewish community preferred.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Office 365 products and CRM’s.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Hours and Benefits
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 38 hours per week. Typical office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 am-5 pm, and Friday, 8 am-3 pm. This work is majority in-person, with remote option available 1-2 days per week. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
This position is eligible for a minimum of 10 vacation days and 7 personal days annually. In addition, MJF observes 7 federal holidays as well as Jewish holidays that prohibit work, typically adding between 11-17 additional paid days off annually depending on the Hebrew calendar. Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position operates in a professional office environment with pleasant working conditions, good lighting and ventilation, and moderate noise level.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment. There will be frequent computer usage which will require arm and hand dexterity as well as all vision abilities to be successful. This is primarily a sedentary role; however occasional filing and transport of meeting materials will be required. This would require the ability to lift and/or move up to 15-20 pounds, usually waist high.
