Purpose:
The RWE (Real-World Evidence) Director - META manages and coaches a team of specialists to ensure the successful fulfillment of the local RWE/HTA requirements and local RWE projects and studies. The RWE work focuses on disease and/or treatments (LLY) spans the entire lifecycle of development and commercialization until LoE.
For this, the Director – RWE - META relies on a cross-functional internal network to many functions but also externally. The Director – RWE - META is well-embedded within Lilly and works closely with many scientific and business functions such as PRA/MA/CA and Marketing. He/She coaches team members in identifying the most appropriate solutions and provides scientific expertise to the team when needed. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), he/she contributes to the value of the company’s products by ensuring that appropriate RWE solutions are valuable to payers, providers and patients and are executed and delivered in time. The Director – RWE - META monitors the environmental development, identifies opportunities and demonstrates in-depth knowledge, understanding and evaluation of clinical, economic, and/or patient-reported outcomes methodologies. He/She has extensive knowledge of available local databases and builds strategic relationships with third parties while following all relevant internal processes.

People Management
- Coaches the HEOR & RWE team to ensure the provision of appropriate RWE solutions for pre-launch activities for a timely, efficient RWE input to the HTA dossier. In addition, he/she drives the engagement in post-launch RWE activities (“Building the bridge between Medical and Business”).
- Is RWE Subject matter Expert (SME) and provides sanity check on RWE outcomes for the team, especially on outcomes for HTA dossier.
- Develops technical expertise and capabilities of the HEOR & RWE team by internal and external training sources.
- Ensures a current and appropriate staffing of the HEOR & RWE team to accomplish objectives.
- Attracts top talent to roles, retains key talent and fosters a high potential culture within his/her team.
- Proposes, initiates and implements improvements within Lilly and in the external HEOR & RWE environment.
- Ensures compliance to appropriate internal and external standards and policies.
- Lives a culture on equal footprint that is consistent with Lilly values of integrity, respect for people and excellence.
Organizational/cross-functional leadership, strategy and embedment
- Close collaboration with key-functions especially CA/MA (PRA), Medical, Statistics, Regulatory, Market Research. Has the ability to influence and work cross-functionally. Works also closely with GPS/MQO, IBU and other global functions.
- Drives partnerships with VEO, RWE Int. and RWE IBU on the development of the RWE community.
- Drives awareness and education on RWE within the META Hub and is point of contact to advise how to drive RWE projects.
- He/She reports directly to the AVP medical and is a member of the Medical Lead team.
- In addition, the Head of HEOR & RWE provides cross-functional advice (Medical, Regulatory, E&C, LEGAL, HEOR & RWE) for new ideas on studies and projects.
- Represents the Lilly HEOR & RWE function within the local Middle East Pharmag Association (PHRMAG).
- Influences and affects cross-functional initiatives within the Principles of Medical Research framework.
- Engages in the transformation of the META affiliates and Lilly to an agile organization.

- Ensure appropriate and effective engagement with third party organizations (Third Party Organizations) and HO academic/government researchers and institutions that support business priorities and objectives.
- Drives identification of new RWD sources and their Lilly internal assessment.
- Identifies internal and external new developments and opportunities to engage in. Plans development of new capabilities for HEOR & RWE.
- Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with key internal and external functions and decision makers.
- Facilitates effective interactions with other groups/functions within the company.
- Interacts, understands, and advises internal and external business partners with differing expectations and objectives.
- Ensures increasing internal awareness of the role of RWE.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- An advanced degree, including, Ph.D., M.D., or PharmD/Master´s degree with relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (e.g. economics, epidemiology, health administration, health services, medicine, Pharmacoeconomics, psychology, statistics or other relevant sciences) will generally be required.
- Preferably extensive knowledge in HEOR & RWE by project managing and working with data. In specific significant previous training and experience in designing and conducting research and disseminating the results in the areas of health economics, health outcomes, disease management, and/or population health may substitute for the formal degree requirement.
- Deep organizational understanding with the ability to think and interact cross-functionally and globally with customer focus and a solution orientation.
- Relies on a strong internal and external network.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as cross-cultural competence. Has the ability to work successfully in a team-oriented/cross-functional environment.
- The ability to travel primarily domestically, but also internationally. Travel is estimated to be up to 20%.
- Fluent in English.
Other Information/Additional Preferences:
- Knowledge and experience of varied Health Care Systems, preferably with experience within the pharmaceutical industry, health sickness funds or equivalents.
- Understanding of market access and clinical environment as well as clinical research.
- Technical and analytic capabilities in the areas of observational/epidemiologic research, economic modeling, economic evaluation, burden of disease studies, epidemiology, statistics, health care policy and patient preference studies, etc.
- Preferably, with some experience in providing HTA dossier support.
- Ability to stand up for HEOR & RWE topics and own ideas.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Domestic and international travel will be required.
