Job Summary
Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams. Carries out established nursing care for patients and performs related duties as required. Performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs, with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.
Department Description
The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) specializes in the care of children with complex congenital heart disease. Surgical procedures include repair of congenital heart defects and permanent pacemaker insertion. Medical interventions include management of acute/chronic heart failure, septic shock, renal and respiratory failure. Critically ill children are cared for with such treatment modalities as mechanical ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, ventricular assist devices, temporary pacemaker therapy, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy and acute hemodialysis.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of recent RN experience in Pediatric Critical Care (PICU, NICU, or PCICU) or a minimum of two years of recent RN experience in Adult Cardiac ICU.
- Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Active American Heart Association PALS Certification.
- The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year recent RN experience in a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
- CCRN Certification.
- BSN.
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Active American Heart Association PALS Certification.
