Operates the ultrasound equipment, performs a wide variety of technical procedures, and assumes the responsibility for the patients in the area. This position requires age related competencies. Performs all other job duties as assigned. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current RDMS or RDCS certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography required.
- 2 years experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
- Current CRP certification within 90 days of hire.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Written/Verbal).
Responsibilities
- Performs general ultrasound procedures (abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts and vascular).
- Performs 2D, pulsed wave Doppler, color flow Doppler evaluations on the upper and lower extremities for both the arterial and venous systems, visceral vascular and carotid imaging.
- Performs appropriate measurements and calculations for each of the ultrasound exams.
- Reviews in-patient requisitions and prioritizes patient list in order of severity of illness, special procedures, special requests, equipment availability, and patient; revises patient schedule as new procedures are requested and circumstances change.
- Maintains patient logbook on a daily basis.
- Develops film by automatic processing in a timely manner; manipulates laser printer and processor as necessary to obtain the highest quality images possible.
- Performs daily quality control checks on the processor and generates a monthly report of the results summary.
- Performs monthly calibration on the laser.
- Responsible for procurement, storage, and routing of supplies for room preparation as needed to insure smooth functioning of areas within the ultrasound department.
- When US Tech II or higher level serves as a preceptor for students enrolled in an accredited sonography program.
- Utilizes surgical technique effectively as needed in performing sterile procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring reusable instruments are delivered to the appropriate department for sterilization.
Lead Technologist:
- Plans and coordinates scheduling, employee shift scheduling, ordering of supplies, reviews protocols and ensures they are up to date.
- Assists in conducting employee orientation, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Ensures equipment calibration by performing quality control tests according to established procedures and frequency schedule.
- Provides instruction and technical assistance to the US technologist concerning the operation of the equipment.
- Coordinates and monitors compliance with ACR/ICAVL accreditations.
Reports to the respective departmental Operations Manager.
Accountable for: Satisfactory attendance by regularly reporting to work for scheduled shift, clocking in at scheduled start time, completing assigned duties in a timely manner, providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Also accountable for training and mentoring students and new staff.
