THE POSITION
Washington County's Department of Land Use and Transportation (LUT) is currently seeking a Management Analyst I to join the team!
The Position
This is a critical and specialized Management Analyst I (MAI) position within the Community Planning Group in the Long Range Planning Section of Land Use & Transportation. The MA I will work closely with the Principal Planner and other planning staff on our team and perform these essential responsibilities:
- Project Management of land use ordinance process, including establishing and maintaining the ordinance schedule, assisting planners on ordinance development and preparing ordinance exhibits, coordinating support staff work on ordinance elements (e.g., Board Agendas, Constant Contact emails, webpage updates), coordinating with County Counsel on filing ordinances, and ensuring process runs smoothly and timelines are maintained.
- Review, edit and format staff-generated public notices, reports, issue papers, agendas, findings and webpage materials for clarity, accuracy and adherence to departmental AP Style.
- Assist Principal Planner in development of the biennial Work Program, including tracking public input.
- Maintain and update County Comprehensive Plan documents when ordinances are adopted, including coordinating with GIS staff on map updates.
- Compile supportive technical data for comprehensive and community plan development and maintain databases and files for comprehensive planning projects.
- Perform research on planning related topics for other team members.
- Serve as primary point of contact and perform contract management with external host of County's Development Code.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
The ideal candidate is:
- Organized and detail oriented, aware of deadlines and able to keep on top of schedules.
- Interested in land use and transportation planning and legal aspects of County ordinance process.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Has good writing and editing abilities and advanced capabilities in Word and Excel.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups, works collaboratively in a team-centered environment, and works effectively under general direction.
- Exercises keen time management skills, balances multiple priorities, and consistently meets timelines and due dates.
- Can effectively multi-task.
- Able to direct the work of others even though this is not a supervisory position.
- Although not needed to be successful in this role, knowledge of land use planning in Oregon would be ideal.
- Knowledgeable about project management and tracking programs like SharePoint and Monday.com.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in public or business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting or a related field that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; OR
- Associate's Degree in public or business administration, finance, economics, statistics, accounting or a related field that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; AND two (2) years of responsible professional work experience in administrative, operations, budgetary, financial, or similar analysis; OR
- Four (4) years of responsible work experience in administrative, operations, budgetary, and similar analyses.
