We are seeking a full-time Director of Nursing to work out of our Silver Spring office. This position provides clinical oversight and leadership of our agency, coordinates delivery of services, and interfaces with agencies and entities outside of Care & Comfort.
Duties include:
- Develop, maintain, and implement nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, agency philosophy, and operational policies.
- Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor staff practices and implementation of changes while keeping staff updated on best practice nursing standards.
- Hire, train and develop staff; manage and evaluate staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Oversee and supervise development and delivery of in-service education to equip nursing staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, quality care and respect for clients.
- Collaborate with physicians, agencies, and institutions to improve the quality of services and to resolve problems.
- Oversee case management of all homecare clients including referral and admission process ensuring accuracy and completeness. Provide clinical RN support for staff related to client needs. Facilitate pediatric referrals.
- Perform or delegate RN, LPN, CNA & GNA orientation, competency, supervision & evaluations as per Agency policy, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
- Monitor staff for compliance with OSHA mandates and agency policies on workplace safety. Proactively develop procedures to promote workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Establish, implement, and monitor the infection control program designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment designed to prevent transmission of disease and infection.
- Monitor complaint reports for allegations of potential abuse or neglect, or the loss or misappropriation of client property, and participate in these investigations as needed.
- Participate in licensing surveys and ensure timely action on corrective action plans for Licensing Reviews.
- Manage a small caseload on weekly/monthly patients, including providing occasional coverage as needed.
- Provide 24-hour consultative services as required by regulation.
- Member of the Leadership team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Chosen candidate must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of nursing and hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland, with a minimum of three years of recent nursing experience and five years management experience in a healthcare setting; preferably home health. Senior leadership experience preferred, prior experience in a decentralized environment is a plus. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, ability to demonstrate tactfulness and diplomacy in handling sensitive and confidential situations, excellent managerial skills, and a strong work ethic.
