What you’ll be doing…
This University of Michigan Co-Op position, which is part of the Verizon Campus Program, will give you a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm as part of a 6-month rotation from January 13, 2025, to July 11, 2025, working a full-time schedule. You’ll be front and center, hands-on, and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive.

Verizon is building its cutting-edge 5G network and needs talent to help lead us forward. In the Technical Program Management - Regulatory/ RE Co-Op at Verizon, you would be responsible for helping design, permit, and construct the tower and small cell infrastructure that our network depends on. Under the mentorship of Principal Engineers, you would have visibility and input on our projects from initiation to activation, and every step in between. This requires an aptitude for collaboration, both with internal and external stakeholders, and an ability to see the big picture, balancing network needs with practical application.
As a Network Regulatory/ RE Co-Op, some of the projects you may work on could enhance your skills in one or more of the following areas:
5G Technology.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enable the 5G network build.
Leading and/or working on multiple small to medium projects or one large project.
Performing project management activities, maintaining project trackers, and facilitating area-wide project calls.
Identifying, analyzing, and resolving real estate and lease-related issues as needed to meet internal or external deadlines and reporting requirements.
Performing analysis in coordination with design and engineering teams to identify new network tower and data hub locations.
Developing resolutions to complex problems that require the use of creativity and making decisions that impact projects and regions.
Facilitating meetings and composing presentations.
Reviewing proposed agreements and working with legal and management to interpret and evaluate agreements.
Successfully negotiate and work with all types of landlords their agents, and vendors to preserve the company’s rights and meet the company’s contractual and regulatory obligations.
Interfacing as needed with city permitting officials and/or departments of public service.
You must be currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor’s degree program at the University of Michigan and be in good academic standing to be considered.
This Co-Op position will be based out of Southfield, MI (Detroit, MI), and follow a hybrid work schedule as set by the manager, including work-from-home and intentional in-person days. If relocation is required, relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll need to have:
Ability to participate in our 6-month co-op that takes place from January 13, 2025, to July 11, 2025, working a full-time schedule.
Current enrollment in a University of Michigan Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Business, Engineering Management, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Law, Construction, Economics, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, or a related major with an expected completion date between December 2025 and May 2026.
Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Previous Internship or Co-Op experience.
Completed coursework in computer programming (Python/R), linear algebra, physics, probability/ statistics, and/or machine learning/data management/ data analysis/ data structures.
Demonstrated independent thinking, relationship management, and attention to detail.
Demonstrated strong analytical, communication, leadership, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, team environment.
