The Director, Operational Excellence Deployment Leader (DL) is responsible for leading a team of Operational Excellence Black Belt leaders and developing and maintaining a portfolio of continuous improvement projects that improve the overall performance of the business. The DL will work with business and finance leaders to document, track, and sustain the performance and financial impact of solutions. The DL will maintain all appropriate data within tracking and reporting systems.
This role reports to the East Region Vice President, Operations.
Position Accountabilities
- Serve as deployment leader for Region Logistics & Network Initiatives, leading Pharma Operational Excellence Black belts to drive, influence, and contribute to business success.
- Identify cost saving, efficiency improvement, and customer experience opportunities within the East Region and driving implementation plans to address.
- Execute on and replicate network wide initiatives to reduce variation and improve safety, quality, speed, and cost.
- Partner with East Directors in developing and delivering Business Continuity plans for Pharma Operations, identifying and mitigating single points of failure for the network.
- Serve as an extended team member for the greater Cardinal Health Operational Excellence and Operations leadership teams and support initiatives for the segment.
- Use LSS expertise to facilitate problem-solving and Work-Out sessions to lead teams to address issues.
- Mentor Black Belts, Kaizen Leaders, and other project leaders in completing DMAIC and non-DMAIC projects and obtaining certification requirements where applicable.
- Drive Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP) and idea sharing amongst Directors in the Region and Network-wide.
- Facilitate Benefit/Effort analysis with site-by-site project portfolios.
- Direct implementation and documentation of standard operating procedures.
- Implement auditing practices to ensure Lean Sigma principles and daily performance tracking are visible in the distribution centers.
- Instruct Lean Six Sigma training classes as needed.
- Conduct special data analysis projects as requested by management.
- Identify opportunities for Lean Six Sigma and other network impacting projects, conduct analysis to scope projects, work with business leaders to identify sponsors and charter projects, and lead a team of 5-8 Black Belts to resource these opportunities.
- Coach business leaders to establish performance measurement systems to help identify improvements.
- Work with Process Owners and Information Technology (IT) resources to align on opportunities and prioritize process improvement work.
- Communicate frequently with Business Leaders regarding project status, issues and accomplishments.
- Partner with Senior Leadership (SVP, VP level) to ensure alignment of work with strategy and objectives.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree preferred.
- 6-10 years’ experience, prior Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations experience preferred.
- 5-7 years of team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong ability to influence large teams and leaders.
- Understanding of P&L and balance sheets required.
- Executive presence & strong leadership skills required.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
Anticipated salary range: $132,700 - $204,000.
