JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Commercial Strategy acts as ultimate gate-keeper between commercial functions and business units to enable delivery of the Eco-system ambition. The Director of Commercial Strategy also leads the discovery and development of new, high-impact strategic opportunities (e.g. Luxury, Marketing-as-a-Service, Fintech).
The role is ultimately responsible for ensuring business unit strategy is aligned with HBX strategic pillars and that commercial plans adhere to elevated and consistent standards across business units fulfilling all the necessary requirements based on prioritization (products, markets, segments) and quality frameworks (e.g. actionable go-to-market strategies).
The role is the primary interface with commercial and business unit leaders (e.g. Sales, Sourcing, Fintech, Mobility & Experiences, HotelTech-Roiback) and Sales & Sourcing Centers of Excellence to (i) align & implement key strategic priorities and (ii) drive key strategic projects.
The role also leads and oversees the design and execution of strategic opportunities to be presented in the Transformation Office and other relevant leadership forums including the Executive Committee and Advisory Committee.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the overall HBX commercial strategy across the different HBX Group business units by working together with business unit and commercial leaders to define direction, objectives, ambition and roadmap.
- Own the consolidated commercial strategy Eco-system roadmap ensuring optimal prioritization (product, market, segment) and adherence to high and consistent quality standards.
- Lead the strategic discovery (assessment of the opportunity), strategic planning and implementation of high-impact strategic opportunities (e.g. Luxury, Fintech, Insurance) through stretched collaboration with EXCO sponsors and functional leads.
- Own the strategy, performance and status reporting of all commercial strategy workstreams and strategic projects to be presented in leadership group meetings, Transformation Office, Executive Committee and Advisory Committee.
- Lead the Commercial Strategy team enabling high performance, instilling the right behaviours and reaching high levels of employee motivation and satisfaction.
Skills:
- Leadership skills - especially to lead projects with high senior stakeholder involvement.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation (to drive strategic decisions).
- Strong presentation skills to synthesize complex topics into actionable insights (for senior stakeholders).
- Solid analytical, problem solving, creative thinking and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Entrepreneurial spirit to bring innovative ideas about commercial strategy innovation.
- Excellent project management and planning skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels (ability to synthesize complex topics into actionable insights for senior stakeholders).

- Coaching skills and ability to delegate, train, lead and motivate team members.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience managing commercial strategy and strategic projects at a global organization or in a Strategy Consulting firm.
- Proven experience in commercial strategy frameworks and methodologies.
- Experience managing and developing people in a multicultural and global organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or related.
- Master’s degree or MBA highly preferable.
