Job Description
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below. Physicians’ care shall cover the range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized TJC, VA and national standards.
Qualifications:
- Current, full and unrestricted license in one or more state, commonwealth, territory or DC.
- Applicants who have ever had a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application are not eligible.
- Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM.org) – Specialist in Gastroenterology
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent
- DEA License
- A minimum of 1 year of direct patient care. Preferably in GI specialty.
- Previous VA or Military experience strongly preferred but not required.
- US Citizen (Permanent residents can be discussed on a case by case basis)
- Must be local or relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance and pass VHA credentialing process
- Able to provide references
- Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent required. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive gastroenterology care, including but not limited to:
- In and Out Patient clinical and surgical care.
- Clinic, Operative, and Surgical Care: Provide comprehensive clinical Gastroenterology services including the diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology disease and surgical procedures. Typical procedures include EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound & ERCP’s.
- Intraoperative Follow-up: Be present in the endoscopy suite for all Gastroenterology procedures.
- Consultative Services at patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
- Medication management as per all facility policies and procedures.
- Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Gastroenterology clinical or surgical patients.
- Administrative work relevant to care provided, job performance, or facility organization.
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/clinic work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
