As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, Enterprise Technology, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Be accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
- Ensures successful collaboration across partner technology teams and stakeholders.
- Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
- Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
- Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2+ years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
- 8+ years experience leading teams of technologists.
- Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate with both business stakeholders and technology partners.
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
- In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
- Prior hands-on experience with Java Microservices or Full Stack Development.
- Practical cloud native experience with AWS (or comparable Public Cloud).
- Demonstrated proficiency in creating and presenting functional and technical architectures.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience working at code level.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Additional knowledge of front-end technologies i.e. React / Tuxedo/JS.
- Prior experience with NoSQL Databases along with modern Data Lake platforms.
- Stakeholder Management.
