Principal Software Engineer – Oracle Cloud Identity and Access Management Team (Seattle, WA)
As a member of the Identity and Access team, you will be part of a team responsible for the platform used by OCI service teams to access any resource within the Cloud. This platform is responsible for providing MFA using hardware authenticators, access management, access governance, and access enforcement. It is fundamental to OCI’s security posture and is a highly scalable system that works across hundreds of thousands of resources within each of the 30+ regions worldwide.
As a Principal Software Developer, you will work on redesigning our Identity System, as well as developing new features to make access friction-free while maintaining security and compliance. You will also provide technical leadership to junior engineers and will be a mentor to help grow engineering craft. Duties and tasks are varied and complex, requiring independent judgment and full competence in the area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower-level personnel. BS or MS degree and equivalent experience relevant to functional area.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for engineers with distributed systems experience. You should have experience with the design of major features and launching them into production. You’ve operated high-scale services and understand how to make them more resilient. You work on most projects and tasks independently. You have experience working with services that require data to travel long distances, but have to abide by compliance and regulations.
The ideal candidate will be technically strong and get a lot done – you’ve worked on services that are highly available, scalable, and redundant. You understand that simple systems are easier to operate and troubleshoot. You can balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements. You’ve made life easier for other developers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements with your ability to automate and instrument properly to get the right data. You understand operational excellence and how to instill a culture of being proactive with your teammates.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of full-stack software development experience
- Hands-on experience building and operating tools and dashboards with large data pipelines
- Experience driving security reviews, documentation, UX reviews, and working with Product Managers through the entire launch process
- Experience developing service-oriented architectures and RESTful web services
- Working knowledge in Java, C++, C#, or similar OO languages
- Experience with at least one scripting language for automating tasks, proof of concept work, or command line tools
Responsibilities
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
