About This Opportunity
Through a constructive and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company, the Director of MEP will develop this new service line for the built environment and will provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the MEP group in the Washington, DC office executes operational management, controls business development strategy to effectively grow the practice, consult on major, complex and non-standard projects, establish and maintain key clients and provide technical support in solving problems for existing buildings and facilities related to mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. The MEP group services may include system analysis, energy auditing and modeling, trouble shooting, maintenance planning, design and retrofitting, retro-commissioning, commissioning, and forensics related services.
Successful candidates for this opportunity will have an entrepreneurial spirit, extensive management experience, competency in evaluation of and managing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems projects that are large and complex in nature. Responsibilities
- Achieve annual MEP revenue and profit goals.
- Grow, develop and manage MEP staff.
- Participate in advisory meetings and assist staff as needed to excel the business.
- Maintain key clients.
- Generate project leads and follow-up on leads.
- Prepare proposals and negotiate additional services.
- Manage and monitor the progress of projects and budgets.
- Provide excellent technical support to clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
Other Requirements:
- Registered Professional Engineer in which offices/projects are located.
- 10-20 years of MEP consulting services, which may include Forensics (expert witness/litigation support) and/or commissioning/retro-commissioning experience.
- Experience managing staff and projects, selling the business and promoting MEP practices.
- A desire to become an owner through Walker’s Employee Stock-Purchase Program. We are proudly 100% employee-owned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree.
