New opportunity for a Manager – Project Development Engineer to join Ameresco’s West Engineering team based in the Pacific Northwest in the development and implementation of design build projects, energy performance contracting projects, new technology and renewable energy initiatives. The Manager - Project Developer Engineer builds effective relationships with team members, internal and external customers, designers, suppliers, and subcontractors. This person is responsible for oversight and/or preparing preliminary budgets, milestone Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD) or Construction Development (CD) cost estimates, and final bid scope/pricing proposals. The Manager – Project Developer Engineer plays a direct role in building credibility with our customers and target customers, is resourceful, and is excited about developing win strategies using company resources/assets, design consultants, subcontractor partners, and key vendors.
Responsibilities:
Technical oversight of the project development process to ensure accurate and timely engineering.
Manage, review, and verify accuracy of critical project development documentation and deliverables including project action registers, job-trackers (costing sheets), savings calculations, as well as the technical components of customer contracts.
In conjunction with the Director – PDE, collaborate with Business Development on customer development and relationship management activities, including needs assessment; energy efficiency education and awareness; project support, proposals, and presentations.
Manage project development team efforts in identification of opportunities for conservation or efficiency, preparation of energy savings calculations; performance of engineering assessment including baseline profiles, end-use and retrofit analysis.
Oversee project development team’s design/development activities necessary to support construction, operations, and maintenance of customer site projects as required by energy savings performance contracts.
Oversee project development team’s analysis and preparation of conceptual and detailed engineering design and bid documents, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for energy efficient building technology and system measures.
Oversee project development team efforts to coordinate with vendors and installation contractors for feasibility and pricing verification of proposed project modifications.
Provide engineering guidance to project development team throughout project development, presentation, contract, monitoring, and operations stages, including preparation and production of proposals, technical reports, cost estimates, and presentations.
Manage outside design engineering firms providing consulting services to the Engineering Team.
In conjunction with the Director – PDE, coordinate and interface with project management and operations teams to assure customer satisfaction.
In conjunction with the Director – PDE, plan, budget, track, and effectively manage organizational and team resources to achieve regional business objectives.
Grow and manage the Project Development Engineering Team.
Recruit, hire, develop, train, and evaluate team in accordance with approved business plan.
Establish and monitor progress of individual and team goals.
Budget, track, and manage engineering and project expenses.
As needed, directly manage contingent staff, full time staff, and/or interns.
Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory safety, standards, and protocols.
Cultivate and foster positive business relationships with all parties; and perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related concentration.
Minimum of five (5) years of energy efficiency or design-build experience covering all aspects of general construction, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical.
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local building codes.
Proficiency and experience utilizing AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other drafting software is desired.
Proficiency and experience utilizing On Screen Take Off or other estimation software is desired.
Desire to mentor others on best practices in local ESCO/Construction market.
Ability to work effectively with design team and sub-contractors in developing phasing and schedule options.
Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) certificate or ability to attain the PE within a reasonable time.
Proven ability to manage and complete complex projects in a timely, cost-effective and customer focused manner.
Knowledgeable in construction work breakdowns, operations, means and methods, and materials.
Proficient knowledge of construction sequencing, trade jurisdictions and scheduling.
Direct Industry involvement, key Design team relationships and earned Owner trust is essential.
Excellent verbal, written, computer, and technical communication and presentations skills, including advanced MS Office, Word, Excel proficiency, MS Project, and Primavera.
Skilled at fostering positive and effective business relationships at all levels and project phases.
Valid Driver's license in good standing, issued by resident state required.
Local and regional travel will be required.
