Job Summary: The District has an immediate need for Interim Director of Student Services, Equity, and Inclusion through June 30, 2025. Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Director (Interim) of Student Services, Equity and Inclusion will lead the district's efforts in fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all students and staff. The role ensures student engagement, eliminates achievement gaps, and promotes access to opportunities. The Director will also oversee essential student services, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and serving as a key liaison between district leadership, families, and the community. Specific responsibilities for this position are as described on the attached job description.
Education, Experience and Requirements:
- Master’s degree in education, administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading equity and inclusion initiatives within an educational setting.
- Demonstrated school administration experience, with a deep understanding of student services and compliance.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with staff, students, and the community.
Performance Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Equity, Inclusion, and Student Engagement:
- Lead and manage the district's equity and inclusion initiatives to create a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive culture across all schools.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to school administrators to foster culturally responsive learning environments that enhance student engagement and close gaps in student achievement and opportunity.
- Develop, organize, and implement professional development opportunities for district and school administrators, emphasizing equity and inclusion practices.
- Deliver equity and inclusion training to district leadership, ensuring continuous growth in culturally competent practices.
- Collaborate with parents and families to advance equity and inclusion efforts in the district’s strategic goals.
Program and Compliance Leadership:
- Act as the district liaison with nurses and counselors, facilitating district-wide meetings to support comprehensive student health and wellness services.
- Participate in the district’s Title IX compliance, ensuring adherence to federal laws related to gender equity in education.
- Manage and facilitate the District’s 504 program, ensuring accommodations and supports are effectively provided for eligible students.
- Serve as the District’s Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) Compliance Officer, leading investigations and ensuring a safe environment for all students.
- Conduct investigations involving students and staff as necessary, maintaining fairness and objectivity.
- Ensure district compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to student services, including managing program audits and reporting requirements.
Hearing and Appeals:
- Serve as the district’s Hearing Officer, overseeing formal hearings related to student issues.
- Act as the Superintendent’s designee for student discipline appeals, ensuring the fair and timely resolution of cases.
- Support the Student Advisory to the Board, providing guidance and leadership as needed.
Community and Family Engagement:
- Act as a liaison between the district and families, addressing concerns related to student services and promoting collaboration between the school district and community.
- Collaborate with the Snohomish Education Foundation, representing the district in fundraising and partnership efforts that support student success.
Other Responsibilities:
- Maintain current knowledge of legislation, regulations, and best practices in student services, equity, and inclusion.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Salary Range: $177,866 to $189,162, dependent on experience
Benefits: For eligible positions, the district offers a competitive benefits package including Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB), a Washington state retirement package, and paid time off. Generally, you are eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31).
