Description
As the Sr, HR People Partner, you will partner with business leaders in various locations in Southern California, the Pacific Northwest and Texas. You will be responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. You will consult with managers and employees on human resources-related issues. You will work proactively with department and product leaders to ensure alignment and partnerships related to all organizational changes, employee engagement, employee relations, and performance management while helping to create a positive culture.
This position will report to the Director, People Partner team, and be a trusted advisor to the department and business unit leaders.
What you'll do:
- Consults with leaders providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to recommend, develop, and implement solutions, programs, and policies.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements, particularly California legislation, stays current on legislative updates and makes recommendations to the Director, People Partners, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, performance improvement).
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Partners with the Director, Talent to procure and onboard talent, ensuring talent search, interviewing, and onboarding meet organizational objectives of hiring and retaining top talent.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Develops, adjusts, and ensures HR business processes are simplified and streamlined; ensures compliance and understanding for all process stakeholders.
- Develops and coordinates employment terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
- May provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
- Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
- Partners with training to deliver training programs through webinars and through on-site presentations. Participates in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
- Ensure all people programs are effective and in compliance with local and national regulations. Keep abreast of current guidelines, legislation, new rules, and changes and trends related to employment law, FLSA, etc.
- Regular monthly/quarterly audits for state specific requirements
- 10-20% Travel required- regular visits to Southern CA sites with occasional travel to Pacific Northwest and Texas sites.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll have:
- 5-10 years of HR experience
- Working with matrixed, multi-location operation preferred
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and state and federal employment laws.
- Experience working in the following industries is preferred: Logistics, Transportation, Warehouse/Distribution, Trucking, Retail
- SHRM certification preferred.
- Ability to be strategic and tactical in role, aligning HR goals with business goals
- Flexibility and collaboration with business leaders
- Ability to see the “big picture.”
- Understanding of federal and state (including CA) compliance and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal; listening to the business and customers’ needs.
- Action Oriented – ability to make and action decisions in a timely manner; overcomes roadblocks and challenges easily.
- Problem-Solving – identifies and resolves problems on time; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions
- Consultative skills: the ability to build solid partnerships and to influence without authority confidently, effectively, and collaboratively
