Butler America - Head of Engineering
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Degree Requirements: BS EE, BS ME, BS IS from an accredited university, MBA Preferred
Summary / Objective: The Head of Engineering plans, directs, coordinates, and oversees activities in the engineering department, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the company.
Qualifications:
- Education: BSEE, BSME, or BSIS from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Ten or more years of engineering project level experience; MBA preferred.
- Skills: Must possess technical understanding of electronics, mechanical design, and software development with emphasis on knowledge of current commercial certification standards such as RTCA/DO-178B/C, RTCA/DO-254, and ARP4754. Must possess an extensive understanding within the Aerospace domain with the ability to provide departmental leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with company executives to develop and meet organizational goals while providing expertise guidance on programs, projects, operations, and systems.
- Establishes, communicates, and implements engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
- Provides Shareholder/Management overviews as required to ensure tactical and strategic engineering objectives are met and in line with company mission, goals, and objectives.
- Directs engineering personnel engaged in the research, design, development, and/or modification of new and existing products.
- Oversees project scheduling and manpower assignment.
- Hires Engineering personnel and maintains a proper workforce for the department’s workload.
- Conducts performance reviews of all Engineering personnel and recommends merited salary increases.
- Ensures the timely completion and accuracy of proposals and cost estimates.
- Coordinates the efforts of Engineering personnel with the Manufacturing and Field Engineering Departments to solve any product problems that might occur.
- Ensures products have a route to certification and airworthiness while ensuring performance and business case expectations.
- Oversees the technical progress of all programs and meeting technical requirements specified by OEM/Customer requirements.
- Manages forecasting and reporting on the technology annual budget in conjunction with Finance.
