Director, Business Development, EV Battery and Automotive Manufacturing

Job Summary & Responsibilities
At Onto Innovation, Enterprise Software is a growing business in the industrial & semiconductor manufacturing space. We are the only vendor who can supply a full set of smart manufacturing solutions across the entire industrial manufacturing value chain, and we are on a mission to digitally transform the world. In the role of Business Development Leader, you will drive the Enterprise Software business to grow into a new market segment by bringing your experience in the EV Battery & Automotive markets. By positioning our offerings to key customers to harness market share, and leveraging best practices & excellence through strategy, efficiency, and discipline you will build sales pipeline working closely with customers and Regional Sales Managers.
Reporting directly into the Enterprise Software WW business development leader, this role is best suited for someone who is well organized and self-driven to work in a matrix organization. Discipline to leverage process and creativity to work with product management and field teams to remove hurdles is key, with an end vision for aggressive business growth.
Responsibilities
- Generate new opportunity & revenue results via (but not limited to) cold calling, email campaigns, sales plays, networking and participating in trade shows and conferences.
- Identify new sales verticals, strategies, and lead sources to grow a pipeline.
- Develop new relationships with corporate executives, manufacturing, and IT managers.
- Regularly prepare and lead compelling virtual and in-person client presentations to introduce Enterprise Software solutions.
- Own forecasting revenue and skillfully managing entire sales process: From leads to win/loss to meet & exceed annual targets and learn from experiences.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop incentive response campaigns.
- Help articulate requirements and process flows for manufacturing efficiency applications working closely with cross-functional teams in Marketing, Engineering, and Applications.
- Help collect ‘voice of customer’ and correlate customer high value problems and challenges with end use applications across entire manufacturing line & supply chain.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative research of global process control & yield analytics markets.
- Demonstrate leadership of the market segment TAM/SAM; articulate TAM/SAM software opportunity for Enterprise Software Business Unit (EBU).
- Host Bi-weekly sales calls with regions to coordinate with sales managers & drive strategies to close opportunities.
- Key account management - host quarterly review meetings.
- Identify segment portfolio gaps and opportunities making recommendations for M&A activity.
- Responsible for organization, structure, and content of core customer Technical Review Meetings.
Qualifications
- BS Degree or higher in related field.
- MBA desirable but not required.
- EV battery & automotive market experience needed; zero defect manufacturing experience desirable.
- At least 5 years experience in software sales or marketing.
- Strong knowledge of Roll-to-Roll manufacturing, process trends & smart manufacturing.
- Experience having presented at technical conferences, written blogs, articles, etc.
- Experience in working with external sources for industry data collection.
- Well versed in collecting, interpreting, and organizing data.
- Experience in building sales strategy a must.
- Experience in CRM and/or Sales Forecasting tool a plus.
