POSITION TITLE: Clinical Director of Outpatient and Addiction Services
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
REPORTS TO: COO
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Staff Therapists and Substance Counselors
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Clinical Director will be responsible for the daily functioning of outpatient services for MHA, including recruitment and supervision of clinical staff. Provide therapy services with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health and recovery from mental illness. Work with other Agency Departments to ensure collaboration and serve as a positive representative of MHA in the community.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads a staff of employees, motivating, coaching, and supporting them toward maximizing performance and productivity.
- Plans and implements the orientation and training of employees per program guidelines.
- Handles personnel matters effectively and consistently, including interviewing, hiring, disciplining, terminating, and completing annual evaluations for employees.
- Ensures timely and appropriate documentation and billing of services in the manner required by payers.
- Provides clinical supervision to staff not independently licensed, ensuring compliance with BSRB regulations for service provision, ethics, and professional development.
- Works with Senior Director/Billing Manager/Clinical Coordinator to ensure effective and efficient front office processes.
- Provides oversight to the Counseling Center program and staff, ensuring appropriate accreditation and licensing standards are met.
- Ensures services are provided in compliance with insurance regulations and approved practices for mental health treatment.
- Works with Senior Director and Agency departments to develop strategies to maximize MHA participation with reimbursement systems.
- Identifies and establishes contacts with potential referral sources, presenting information regarding MHASCK in a favorable manner.
- Ensures compliance with payer systems, including utilization review functions.
- Completes quality assurance and utilization review measures, including peer reviews and strategic planning.
- Manages operational expenses within an approved budget and prepares necessary program reports.
- Provides therapy services to clients and patients, individually and in group sessions, including clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, ongoing assessments, and referrals.
- Maintains appropriate client records, ensuring confidentiality.
- Collects documented outcomes, tracking efficiency, effectiveness, satisfaction, and access indicators.
- Participates as a CARF team member and assures service delivery in conjunction with CARF guidelines.
- Prepares and submits reports and approves necessary documentation for agency operations.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Clinical Director must have a Master’s degree (or above) and possess independent licensure in their respective field of study, with a minimum of two years’ experience providing therapeutic services post-license. Must be eligible for approval of 3rd party payer systems and apply for various insurance panels. Previous supervisory experience is required, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a detail-oriented approach. Skills in data entry, database maintenance, and computer proficiency are required. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions is essential. A valid Kansas driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.

- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds.
- Driving for community mobility purposes.
