Job Description
Position Purpose
This position is primarily responsible for leading/directing the income tax compliance function for all Brambles US & Canadian companies, and assisting the non-US business units in the Americas region, including:
Responsibilities
- All Canadian, US & state income tax compliance (returns, provisions & defense), and tax provisions for all LATAM affiliates.
- Leading and preparing the consolidated U.S. income tax provisions.
- Assisting with the modeling of any Tax Reform impact on Brambles’ US BUs.
- Performing tax research for various US and international tax issues, and participating in tax planning and defense functions for Brambles’ subsidiaries in the Americas region.
Scope
Major/Key Accountabilities
- Lead & Direct all Canadian & U.S. Income Tax Compliance, including returns & payments, provisions, planning, and audit defense.
- Lead & Prepare the Canadian & U.S. Consolidated Income Tax Provisions.
- Review & approve all Tax Provision workbooks and submissions for all LATAM business units in the Latam America region.
- Maintain the Americas Tax Provision workbooks.
- Lead future tax compliance automation project for the USA.
- Manage future hiring and development of future/potential tax senior new hire – direct report to director, tax.
- Lead all Canada & US federal & state income tax audits, including responding to all income tax notices and audit inquiries.
- Perform tax research and effectively advise on tax-related issues to the business units in the Americas region.
- Monitor changes in US, Canadian and LATAM tax legislation, and assist with modeling material implications to Brambles, if any.
- Oversee the management and assist with BEPS requirements for international income tax compliance for all companies in the Americas.
- Assist VP tax with Transfer Pricing matters (international).
- Prepare the CHEP USA APA Royalty calculations for payment of foreign related party royalties.
- Assist VP of Tax with tax planning for the Americas region.

- Maximizing of Group tax attributes.
- Delivery of valued taxation services in a cost-effective manner.
Qualifications
- Professional qualifications in tax and financial accounting.
- B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance, with a master's degree in Taxation desired.
- Certified Public Accountant.
Experience
- Have worked for the Big 4 Consulting companies/Firm.
- Minimum of 8 years tax experience (prefer at least 4 years of Big 4 experience).
- Strong understanding of large U.S. federal consolidated and multi-state tax returns.
- Broad base of knowledge/exposure to complex federal and international issues.
- Ability to perform tax research.
- Must have very strong Accounting for income taxes (provision) experience.
- Domestic tax research and tax planning.
- Managing acquisition and divestitures tax transition issues.
- Automating tax compliance and provision process.
- Clear & concise communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Strong interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining business relationships.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong performance management skills.
- Expertise in large U.S. consolidated and multi-state tax return compliance & tax matters.
- Expertise in accounting for income taxes for large consolidated, multi-state corporations.
- Understanding of tax matters related to M&A and divestitures.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Good understanding of Alteryx to assist with tax automation.
- Good command of written and spoken English (Spanish a plus).
