We recruit top talent for our team and have an opportunity for a qualified Senior Structural Engineer to join us as an integral part of our Structural Materials group in our Plymouth, Michigan office.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, oversee, review, and execute structural engineering tasks for a variety of projects related to assessment and restoration design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood elements and structures.
- Engineering tasks include detailed design, calculations, and development of repair details and specifications.
- Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to junior-level team members.
- Work directly with project managers to help implement project goals.
- Delegate duties to junior-level staff as needed.
- Oversee and conduct quality checks on various aspects of projects, such as project schedule, deliverables, fees, and invoicing, and provide direct assistance to ensure timely project execution.
- Mentor and train one or more junior-level Team Members.
- Productively interact with Client representatives and SME subcontractors.
- Help to enhance the visibility of SME’s expertise by participating in professional organizations outside of regular employment.
- Work in varied environments as dictated by the project, including sitting and using a computer for prolonged periods, working in confined spaces and at heights greater than six feet, and potentially in a laboratory environment or in the field.
- Travel locally and out-of-area; a valid driver’s license (good driving record) and passport are required, with possible limited international travel.

Additional Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering required; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
- Eight plus years of technical design experience with structural design of concrete, masonry, steel, wood elements and structures.
- PE license.
- Experience with assessment and design of prestressed concrete elements/structures.
- Working knowledge of the latest AISC-360, ASCE-7, ACI-318, and other industry standards.
- Experience using industry standard design software, such as STAAD, RISA, IES, or equivalent.
- Good organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter and able to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems, and work well in a team environment.
- Exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards.
