Position Overview
As a dynamic and skilled Energy Economist in our Power Networks team, you will leverage your extensive networks experience to provide insightful analysis and strategic guidance relating to offshore renewables projects. Your deep techno-economic knowledge and associated understanding of renewable energy initiatives will enable you to assess project feasibility, identify risks and provide strategic recommendations from an economic and financial perspective, helping pave the way for a greener, brighter tomorrow.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough economic assessments of offshore wind projects, including cost-benefit analyses, financial modelling, and risk assessments, to inform project feasibility and investment decisions.
- Analyse energy market trends, policies, and regulatory frameworks that impact the offshore wind industry in the UK, offering comprehensive insights into potential opportunities and challenges.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, environmental scientists, and policy experts, to ensure a holistic understanding of project requirements and to develop integrated solutions.
- Produce high-quality reports and presentations that effectively communicate complex economic concepts and findings to diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Engage in client interactions to understand their objectives and tailor economic analyses to align with their strategic goals and operational needs.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in offshore wind technology, industry standards, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance the quality of economic assessments.
- Participate in thought leadership initiatives, contributing to industry conferences, seminars, and publications to enhance GHD's reputation as a trusted advisor in the renewable energy space.
Qualifications
- A degree in Economics, Finance, Energy Economics, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated expertise in economic analysis and a proven track record in conducting economic assessments for offshore wind projects.
- In-depth knowledge of the UK energy sector, including policies, regulations, and market dynamics related to offshore wind.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, risk analysis, and familiarity with relevant software tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex economic concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in engaging with clients, understanding their requirements, and translating those into actionable economic insights.
