POSITION SUMMARY: Manage and supervise the daily operations of the accounting department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage month end close process.
- Research and resolve general ledger outages.
- Supervise the accounts payable process.
- Supervise the reconciliation control process and subsidiary ledgers on a daily and monthly basis.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including reviewing and posting to general ledger.
- Prepare reports from core operating system (Jack Henry and Cognos) and subsidiary ledgers as needed.
- Assist in the documentation, review, and testing of the Bank’s internal controls over financial reporting.
- Provide ongoing supervision to staff.
- Assist in coordination of internal and external audits, including assistance with bulk loan and deposit confirmation preparation.
- Assist in year-end budget preparation.
- Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations required by the Bank, including compiling requests from the internal and external auditors.
- Work with the project manager and other departments to set up new products in the general ledger and core system.
- Work with the Deposit Services and Loan Servicing departments to resolve issues and outages.
- Participate in Jack Henry annual software update.
- Conduct semi-annual Disaster Avoidance Testing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the Bank’s core operating systems, including experience with Jack Henry.
- Knowledge of Bank operations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and internal control framework.
- Personnel Management skills.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Four-year college degree, preferably in accounting.
- Five or more years working experience in banking or related experience.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs.
- Consistently operates a computer and other office equipment such as calculator, copy machine and printers.
- Climate controlled general office setting with moderate noise level.
- Must express or exchange ideas with co-workers, customers and vendors.
