As an Audio Software Engineer specializing in highly scalable audio routing and multi zone functionality, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing our new commercial processing platform. Your primary focus will be on creating solutions that enable flexible audio routing within and across multiple components. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of software engineers, hardware engineers, and audio experts to create robust and scalable solutions for our commercial product lines.

What You’ll Do
- Design and implement a framework that enables a highly flexible and customizable audio signal processing flow which is scalable and can run on multiple HW platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including user experience designers and other software developers, to integrate audio processing algorithms into the control surfaces for our products.
- Optimize algorithms for real-time performance, ensuring efficient resource utilization on various platforms.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of the tools and features in partnership with quality assurance teams to ensure robust functionality and high-quality audio reproduction.
- Create comprehensive documentation for implemented algorithms, ensuring clarity for both internal teams and end-users.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in audio processing.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years experience in real-time audio signal processing and DSP algorithm implementation in Linux or Windows.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, and experience with DSP development tools.
- Familiarity with Audio APIs and frameworks such as ALSA, ASIO, JACK, FAUST.
- Experience with Linux or Android OS Audio components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in rapid prototyping using Matlab, Simulink, Python, MAX/MSP or similar tools.
- Experience with audio hardware and software integration.
- Familiarity with audio standards and protocols.
- Knowledge of real-time operating systems.
- Experience in implementing Audio-Plugins (e.g. VST).
- Experience with Java and RUST.
At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job-related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full-time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:
$152,000 and $168,800
