Position Summary:We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and highly motivated ML Engineer that can help advance our scientific mission. This person will help develop and support infrastructure and tools to accelerate or enable machine learning research. They will join the Data Science team and interact with data scientists, engineers, and our scientific platform teams to enable the discovery and development of novel gene therapy agents.
Key Responsibilities:- Help design, build, and maintain highly efficient and reliable data pipelines to support AI/ML projects.
- Build and maintain distributed computing infrastructure to support ML research.
- Develop and automate ML pipelines, orchestrate CI/CD pipelines for multiple projects.
- Manage model onboarding, versioning, deployment, and integration workflows.
- Develop ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data for analysis.
- Apply software engineering best practices to machine learning, including CI/CD and automation.
- Rapidly create targeted solutions to critical problems.
- Work closely with computational scientists, engineers, and domain experts to understand their requirements and develop customized solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code to support reproducible research and development workflows.
Key Requirements:- Bachelor’s with 2+ years of experience or Master’s degree in a field with exposure to machine learning.
- Experience deploying data/model pipelines using Docker, Kubernetes, and/or DAG workflow tools (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, Argo).
- Experience automating building, training, evaluation, and deployment of ML models.
- Proven experience developing workflows on AWS.
- Strong programming fundamentals and experience in Python.
- Experience with DevOps practices for software development including, source control systems, infrastructure as code standards, secure code practices, etc.
- Conceptual familiarity with a wide range of DL models (GANs, diffusion models, large language models, etc.), and with AI/ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch).
- Conceptual familiarity with MLOps tools like MLFlow, Weights and Biases, Ray, Kubeflow, and/or DVC.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to work well with colleagues from diverse scientific backgrounds and cultures.
Preferred Qualifications:- Proficiency in relational databases, SQL, data warehouses, vector databases.
- Familiarity with CUDA and GPU based computing. Exposure to TPU and XLA a plus.
- Experience with streaming and big data platforms (Kafka, Spark, Hadoop, etc.).
- Experience with biological data (NGS, molecular biology, analytical sciences, images).
- Experience deploying PyTorch Lightning on distributed systems.
- Exposure to transfer-learning and fine tuning of foundation models.
